Use AI only where it belongs!
I ‘m going to be completely humane on this blog!
And it is because I have seen over the course of years that I have started struggling with writing without LLMs at times. My journey with writing began when I was 12 years old. I used to study in 6th grade back then.
My first piece of formal writing was a Hindi poetry that was published in a kids news magazine. It was a moment, I still rejoice over. They promised me some cash money but they did not pay it. However, that’s a different story ;)
Gradually I developed interest in reading more as I got to know, writing can only get better by consuming more written content. I used to read all Hindi newspapers and magazines that came to my home.
It’s not like I started consuming more content for the first time. I was already consuming it through television since I was born. But reading out of the school syllabus, requires you to actively engage with your content. It compels you to come out of your comfort zone and interact with the person who has written it. It’s not your regular passive consumption. It’s different!
This led me to write more and I started participating in debates and creative writing competitions. I did not win any of them but it seriously encouraged me and significantly improved my confidence.
In around 3 years, when I reached 9th grade. I had developed a local fan base in my school and I got comfortable with my stage presence.
Then came the COVID lockdown, leaving ample time for me to read more!
These years brought significant changes in my thought processes. I started becoming lazy at times and oblivious of my responsibilities. Teenagers experience an intoxication i.e. usually neither understood properly by their parents nor their peers (because they are themselves intoxicated). In this point of time I also read some masterpieces of bengali literature, including Gora and Anandmath.
So basically I messed up a little in boards and failed my JEE examination. It was the mobile phone syndrome that hacked me.
I spent my initial university days, struggling in a world of unknowns. But gradually, I developed my own community. A community of people interested in literature, life and technology. And no! they were not university clubs. They were my own selective circles. We met rarely but talked meaningful. The people changed but I constantly kept in touch with the mindset that existed in such kind of people.
This mindset is of making conscious choices and doing a critical analysis of everything. It ranges from buying a toothbrush to choosing a career stream. And trust me, this mindset takes you a long way!
AI breaks that mindset. AI is not your critical analysis friend. It is the echo chamber of your own beliefs being reinforced. Even if you bring a new point of view, it confuses you with your past opinions.
I learnt a lot from these friends and started working on my own debut book. It started with me remembering the days of learning astrology from my grandfather(he is a professional one). I worked seriously for an year and published my book on the topic: homes and daily life principles.
After a long time, I realized that writing heals and I joined several book clubs in my vicinity. This activity not only helped me cope with my loneliness but also made me new friends. These friends brought back to me, the joy of arguments and debates. They acted as a constant reminder for me to read more and find my own voice.
After understanding all of these aspects of literature, I became curious. I started finding sources of positivity that empowered the community of literature and I found it exists in the authenticity of your thoughts. It includes working passionately on your present and developing a disciplined lifestyle.
AI stops you from doing anything passionately and focuses on completing the task quick, irrespective of the quality of your work. This is the reason I have decided, taking lessons from my aforementioned experiences that I will not use AI on any of my blogs from now onwards.
Before going away, I would like to announce that I have regained my self consciousness and now I know how AI systems hijack our human intelligence. I ‘m myself working on an AI based startup these days called vartalang.in and it has been selected for Sarvam Startup program.
I will request you all to use AI only if you understand it responsibly and keep it confined only to the rooms where it belongs.
Make sure it never comes to your bedroom or your dining table.
A life lived is only well lived if you use the resources and not let the resources use you!
Thankyou!
